Silver Pines beginner tips

Silver Pines is a survival horror metroidvania: ammo is scarce, saves cost coins and almost every weapon doubles as a key. These are the things we wish we had known in the first hour.

  1. 1

Save only at payphones and each save costs a coin; check coin-return slots at every payphone.

  2. 2

Drink coffee at machines for permanent stamina; Hip Bags add 2 inventory slots.

  3. 3

Enemies cannot see you in the dark; crouch with lights off.

  4. 4

Weapons double as tools: shoot rusted padlocks, shotgun wooden barricades, sledgehammer cracked walls, box cutter plastic tarps.

  5. 5

Craft tonics from herbs in empty bottles (Flatleaf = healing, Turkey's Crown = catalyst, Pale Lichen = energizing, Blackstem Nettle = antidote).

  6. 6

Spare Parts + Duct Tape = Makeshift Repair Kit for melee weapons.

  7. 7

Photograph locked doors and strange objects to pin them on the map.

  8. 8

Avoid unnecessary fights; ammo is scarce.

  9. 9

Boss: kill dogs before the deputy; save before big bosses.

  10. 10

Pick the right difficulty: Relaxed (less damage taken, more dealt, doubled item stacks), Tense, Survival Horror (intended), Nightmare (much higher damage taken, 35% fewer ammo pickups, more frequent fights).

  11. 11

The Apartment 4B flooded-basement boss drops the Sea Polished Glass Shard, which makes swimming cheaper — you need it to reach Church Hill.

  12. 12

Read every note and calendar: most codes (freezer 2311, Pet Clinic 3819, coffin room 752) are written somewhere nearby.
